The objective of the research is Improve understanding for design of strategies that tackle GBV and promote gender equality in Rwanda with a positive involvement of men.
The research analyzed what is the relation between masculinity perceptions and the problem of gender-based violence committed by men towards women.

The following sub questions were analyzed:
- How do men see their male role in relation to partners and women?
- How do women see the role of males in society?
- What aspects in Rwandese society may fuel negative masculinity perceptions that justify violence against women?
The research shows that the promotion of positive masculinity and involvement of men and boys in changing attitudes towards women should connect to positive identity construction and include positive messages.
