Job Advertisement

Rwanda Men’s Resource Centre (RWAMREC) is a non-government organization whose aim is to address issues of negative masculinity, gender inequality, promotion of healthy families, women’s rights and prevention of gender-based violence, thus addressing all other related consequences including HIV/AIDS and other health issues.

RWAMREC intends to conduct a study on masculinity in Rwanda from March 2010 and would like solicit applications from an international consultant experienced in researching on masculinity. RWAMREC is seeking also 2 national consultants who will be involved in the organisation of the study and data collectors who will collect data on field under supervision of team leaders of the study.

Profile of Consultants
a. PHD or Masters in gender, psychology, social sciences, public policy, anthropology, conflict management, and other related disciplines;
b. Proven expertise in research and publication on men and masculinity, gender-based violence, adolescent health, HIV prevention, sexual and reproductive health, gender impact evaluation, and related areas;
c. Demonstrated capacity to work effectively in English with knowledge of Kinyarwanda and French

Requirements for Data collectors:
a. At least a diploma level A2 in statistics, mathematics, Humanities and other related disciplines;
b. Relevant experience in research work on the ground;
c. To be more than 25 years of age;
d. Proven capabilities to work in Kinyarwanda, English and French;
e. Capable and willing to work and stay in rural areas;
f. Computer literacy for data entry and analysis.

How to apply
For the consultants, Proposals to undertake the consultancy should reach RWAMREC by 26 February 2010 at 3h00 pm local time and should include a letter of motivation, detailed CV, notified academic testimonials, a detailed budget and proposed timeline for the work.
